Amputee dies in Christmas Day fire

BACOLOD CITY – An amputee died in a fire in Purok 2, Barangay Asia, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Christmas Day.

Police withheld the name of the 39-year-old victim.

The victim and his 34-year-old stepson had a drinking session to celebrate the Yuletide season.

His stepson went home for dinner and after an hour, he was informed by their neighbors that the victim’s house on fire around 9:30 p.m.

The fire left an estimated P10,000 in damage to property.

The Hinoba-an Municipal Fire Station said they are exploring all possibilities to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, a house was damaged in a fire in Hervias Dos Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte, here on Christmas Day.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod said damage to property was pegged at P180,000.

The fire started at 12:01 p.m. and put out 13 minutes later.
