3 arrested for illegal sale, use of firecrackers in Manila on Christmas Day
The Manila Police District (MPD) on Tuesday, Dec. 26, announced the arrest of three persons who sold and used illegal firecrackers in Paco and Tondo, Manila on Christmas Day.
Police identified two of the suspects as Mavrick Bong Balila and Rody Guerrero.
The two were nabbed after a concerned citizen called the authorities for selling different kinds of firecrackers in Paco.
The suspects failed to show the necessary legal documents for the firecrackers to the responding officers, resulting in their arrest.
The police confiscated one pack of "pla-pla" and one piece of giant "bawang" firecrackers from the suspects.
They also seized from them around P8,000 worth of other prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices (FCPD), including two pieces of 500 rounds of "Sawa", 19 packs of "3 Star", 15 pieces of "Mabuhay", five pieces of "Five Colors", six pieces of "Victory Lights", one piece of "Jumbo Fountain-Flower Festival", two pieces of "Jumbo Fountain-Mt. Bulusan", 108 pieces of "Kwitis", three pieces of "Jumbo Silver", three pieces of "Super Glittering Silver Fountain", and two pieces of "Mt. Everest”.
The suspects will be charged with illegal sale of firecrackers.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Kris Oliveros was also arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Christmas day for exploding firecrackers.
According to the police report, the suspect ignited firecrackers in front of the barangay hall of Barangay 122 in Tondo, Manila.
The barangay chairman and personnel immediately went outside to confront him as he was causing disturbance.
However, he insulted the officials instead of obeying them. This prompted the chairman to seek police assistance.
The police said that during the actual confrontation between the chairman and the suspect, the official refused a settlement and decided to pursue the alarm and scandal case against the suspect.
