The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) cautioned the public to remain alert as online scams will probably on the upswing victimizing innocent individuals this holiday season.
In a statement, the DILG stressed that the public can report online scams with "a click of a button" through www.scamwatchpilipinas.com.
The DILG stated that the public may report online scams by typing the link on their browser, clicking the hotline button to call 1326 at the homepage, or clicking the messenger button to report via Cybercrime Investigation & Coordinating Center's (CICC) messenger.
“Online scams may surge during holidays, but they stay year-round. Online scams can now be easily reported using mobile phone browser," the DILG noted.
The DILG said that Scam Watch Pilipinas launched a new website with easy reporting linked straight to the government's Inter-Agency Response Center (I-ARC) and operated by the CICC.
“The I-ARC housed at the National Cybercrime Hub is a task force creating to centralize the reporting of cybercrime to the government which composed of CICC, Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT), National Privacy Commission (NPC), and National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and the National Bureau of Investigation Cybercrime Division our its enforcement arm," the DILG added.
