Big Bang's G-Dragon to establish foundation after being cleared of suspicion of illegal drug use
K-pop group Big Bang’s G-Dragon will be establishing a foundation after he was cleared by the police of any suspicion of illegal drug use.
Galaxy Corp., G-Dragon’s new agency after leaving YG Entertainment, announced that G-Dragon will establish the JusPeace Foundation, a combination of “justice” and “peace” that is aimed at erasing illegal drug use and provide medical treatment for teenagers who are into illegal drugs.

In addition, G-Dragon has pledged to contribute 300 million (about $231,242) to the foundation, which will be established next year. The contribution will be made under the name of VIP (Big Bang’s fan club).
“The foundation will be established based on the strong will to realize a society to be a place without prejudice through music. The first project of the foundation is assist in eradicating illegal drug use and help teenagers addicted to drugs,” the agency’s CEO, Choi Yong-ho, said.
The foundation’s advisory committee will have experts in the fields of medical health, public policies, administration, welfare and cultural sectors.
G-Dragon was booked by the police on suspicion of illegal drug use but he was cleared eventually.
Korean media reported that according to G-Dragon, “After this incident, it is heartbreaking to know that the average number of drug offenders per year is approximately 20,000, that the number of juvenile drug offenders has increased significantly, and that less than 500 out of 20,000 of them can receive treatment through institutions each year.”
The agency said, “(G-Dragon) will support those who suffer from prejudice and injustice, promote awareness and solutions to social problems, and strive to create a fair society where everyone is treated equally.”
