4 AFP units feted for dismantling NPA fronts


CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – Four units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were awarded for dismantling guerrilla fronts of the New People’s Army in Northern Mindanao (Region 10) and Caraga (Region 13).

Campaign streamers were bestowed on the 58th Infantry Battalion (IB) led by Lt. Col. Christian C. Uy, the 402nd Infantry Brigade (IBde) under Brig. Gen. Adonis Ariel G. Orio, 30th IB spearheaded by Lt. Col. Jerold H. Jale, and the 901st IB Brigade under Col. Arsenio DC Sadural for their achievements.

The 58th IB and 402nd IBde dismantled the NPA Platoon Falcon, Sub-Regional Committee 1 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

On the other hand, the 30th IB and 901st IBde took down the Guerilla Front 16, SRC Northland of the NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conferred these campaign streamers  during the Armed Forces of the Philippines' 88th founding anniversary celebration in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on December 21.

Major Gen. Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, 4th Infantry Division chief, thanked the President and the Armed Forces leadership for extending full support to their efforts to end local communist armed conflict. 

Cuerpo lauded awardees for exemplifying bravery and dedication in dismantle the NPA in their areas of operation.

"The unwavering dedication of the Diamond troopers to push forward despite challenges is what makes this counter-insurgency journey more worthwhile,” said Cuerpo.

“As we continue this campaign, we are determined enough to strive harder to gain more victories against the CTG in the days to come,” he added.

“Together with the sustained engagement of our stakeholders and the people under the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and the strong guidance of AFP's leadership, we assure our people to bring lasting peace and inclusive development especially in geographically-isolated, disadvantaged, and vulnerable areas in Region 10 and 13."
