In her Christmas message, the official asked Filipinos to be compassionate to their fellowmen.

“Huwag natin kalimutan sa Pasko at sa abot ng ating makakaya sa iba pang mga araw ay tulungan at damayan natin ang ating kapwa Pilipino na naghihirap, nagugutom, may karamdaman, at nag-aagaw buhay (Let us not forget this Christmas to help as much as we can our fellow Filipinos who are suffering, starving, ill, and dying),” Duterte said.

“Ngayong Pasko, pasalamatan natin ang ating mga kababayang nagpakita ng katatagan, integridad, malasakit at pagmamahal sa bayan (This Christmas, let us thank our fellowmen who showed strength, integrity, compassion, and love for country),” she added.

Stressing that Christmas is a message of peace, love, and hope, Duterte said that Christmas is also a reminder of the people’s triumphs and celebration of their faith and gratitude.

This, the official added, should serve as a guide while Filipinos continue to strive for their dreams.

“Alalahanin natin ang ating mga pamilya at ang kahalagahan ng pagmamahalan natin sa isa’t isa — na siyang regalo natin sa ating mga sarili, sa ating mga komunidad, at sa ating bayan (Let us remember our families and the importance of love for each other — that is our gift to ourselves, to our communities, and to our country),” she said.
