Senior citizen found dead in Malate

An 83-year-old man was found dead inside his room in Malate, Manila on Saturday morning, Dec. 23.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the victim as Paterno Bustamante, 83, resident of Barangay 689, Malate, Manila.

The incident was reported personally by Barangay Kagawad Ediolyn Licos to a precinct in Paco, Manila.

According to Licos, he received a call from the victim's sister asking him to check on his brother because he did not go out of his room since afternoon of Dec. 22.

Licos along with other barangay personnel went to the victim's house to check him.

They were assisted by the victim's maid to the victim's bedroom, where they discovered the victim's lifeless body lying on his bed. 

The body was the brought to the family's preferred funeral services.

Authorities said they are still investigating the incident.
