6 dead in Calbayog Christmas Eve tricycle-bus collision

TACLOBAN CITY – Six persons were killed and four were injured in a collision between a tricycle and public utility bus on Christmas Eve in Barangay Matobato, Calbayog City, Samar.

The tricycle with 10 on board driven by James Castila maneuvered to the opposite lane to avoid the early warning device of a parked damaged backhoe.

However, Castila failed to notice and the tricycle collided with an oncoming bus.

Castila and his passengers, all from of Barangay Malopalo, Calbayog, sustained injuries and were brought to the Calbayog District Hospital.

However, due to the severity of their injuries, six of them were declared dead on arrival.

Both vehicles incurred damages.

The victims were on their way to Barangay San Policarpo, Calbayog when the accident happened.

The driver and passengers of the bus were unharmed.
