GUMACA, Quezon – Fourteen persons were injured after a passenger van crashed into a truck parked on the road shoulder in Barangay Casasahan Ilaya here on Saturday afternoon, December 23.
One of the passengers, Radel Rada, 37, of Catanauan, this province, sustained injuries and is in critical condition. The other passengers, nine men and four women, sustained only minor injuries.

Rada was seated near the driver when the accident happened at around 3:30 p.m.
Police said that a Fuso wing van truck with license plates CAF-1301 driven by Aian Cacanog, 40, of Imus City, Cavite, was parked unattended on the right lane shoulder facing the direction of Manila when “Junard,” 40, of Catanauan, Quezon, lost control of the northbound Toyota Hi-Ace commuter van with license plates DAZ-4021 and rammed the truck.
Victims were taken to the hospital by rescuers here.
Junard faces cases of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries, multiple slight physical injuries, and damage to property.
