Pepe Diokno hopes viewers will enjoy 'GOMBURZA'

Acclaimed director Pepe Diokno, director of GOMBURZA, an official entry for the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival, is not concerned with awards or recognition. He wishes for viewers to enjoy and appreciate the historical film.

"I'm not thinking of awards or ranking. I want the people to enjoy the movie," said Diokno during a quick media conference after the grand premiere of "GOMBURZA" at Gateway Cinema in Araneta City last Saturday night.

'GOMBURZA" has earned praise from guests during its premiere.

"With my family in support of our eldest,@PepeDiokno. Seeing the incredible work you've put into your film fills my heart with pride. Grabe kayo, Pepe and team! GOMBURZA is a superb and sublime film that I hope everyone watches this MMFF. Para sa liwanag!" wrote Chel Diokno on Twitter.

The movie also got a nod from the National Artist of the Philippines for Film and Broadcast Arts, Ricky Lee. 

"Hi Pepe! Congratulations! If there's one word to describe the film, it's magnificent. I have never felt more Filipino as I left the theater," Ricky said.

Pepe commented: "Just got the sweetest message from Sir Ricky. I am crying now."

The GOMBURZA grand red carpet premiere was a memorable gathering, with the film’s cast, crew, and guests raving in awe and renewed patriotism. 

Celebrities, fans, industry insiders, film enthusiasts, historians, and Church leaders were all captivated by the film's powerful storytelling and standout portrayals.

The highly-anticipated premiere night was graced by the powerhouse ensemble, led by main actors Enchong Dee, Cedrick Juan, and Dante Rivero, alongside Elijah Canlas, Khalil Ramos, Tommy Alejandrino, Jaime Fabregas, Ketchup Eusebio, Epy Quizon, Nanding Josef, Neil Sese, Arnold Reyes, Brian Sy, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Ronnie Lazaro, Peewee O’Hara, whose roles completed the puzzle pieces of this epic cinematic masterpiece.

Cedrick Juan's magnetic on-screen presence solidified his status as a promising breakthrough artist, while Dante Rivero's seasoned portrayal added layers of gravitas and authenticity to the storyline.

Diokno also said GOMBURZA is a film about heroic Filipinos, by Filipinos, for Filipinos.

"GOMBURZA" will be shown nationwide beginning Christmas Day.
