Nartatez orders intensified security in Metro Manila for Christmas, New Year

Police Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), ordered on Saturday, Dec. 23, all police commanders in Metro Manila to ensure police visibility and quick response to emergencies for the Christmas season.
Nartatez specifically tasked commanders to ensure police presence in transportation hubs like bus stations and stations of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) in various parts of the metropolis.
“We want to ensure the required standards for orderliness and security preparations to maintain safe transportation for the drivers, conductors and most especially the massive number of expected passengers who will have their holiday breaks in the province or even within NCR,” said Nartatez.
“This also serves as an instrument to eliminate the occurrence of various crimes and other related incidents,” he added.

Nartatez personally inspected several transportation hubs and usual places of convergence in Metro Manila.
He also took the LRT ride to assess the current condition of commuters and to integrate solutions to possible risks and uncertainties during the commute.
During the inspections, Nartatez tasked commanders to intensify the conduct of police patrols and setting up of checkpoints.
He said police assistance desks will also be set up strategically for policemen to immediately respond to any emergencies.
