Man arrested for GenSan bomb hoax

GENERAL SANTOS CITY â€“ Police arrested on Friday a man for posting false information on social media that an improvised explosive was recovered in a parking area of a shopping mall here.

Police Capt. Ari Noel Cardos, Police Station 6 commander, said the suspect, Cresinte Nalugon, was apprehended in his house in Barangay Bula, this city, two hours after his Facebook post went viral and created panic.

Cardos said charges for violation of the Anti-Bomb Joke law will be filed against the suspect.

He is expected to spend Christmas at the lockup cell of the police station as the formal complaint will only be filed on Monday.

Nalugon said that it was not his intention to create panic. He said his act was just a reminder to the public to be extra-cautious in the midst of bomb threats during Christmas.
