Five people died while three others were injured when a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) figured in a head-on collision with a truck in Sto. Tomas, Batangas early morning on Saturday, Dec. 23.
Police Lt. Col. Rodel Ban-o, chief of police of Sto. Tomas City police, said all the eight peop[le on board the Toyota Innova were taken to the hospital but five of them were declared dead.
“The three other passengers are still undergoing treatment, were able to talk to them,” said Ban-o in n interview over dzBB.
Citing the initial result of the investigation, Ban-o said the Innova was heading to Nueva Ecija when it hit a truck traveling at the opposite side of the road at around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
“Based on our initial investigation, the driver (of the Innova) fell asleep and that was the reason why the vehicle hit the truck on the opposite lane,” said Ban-o.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
