No credible security threat ahead of Christmas celebration -- PNP
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not monitored any serious or credible threat to security ahead of the Christmas Day celebration next week.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said all security measures were already laid out to ensure a peaceful and joyous Christmas celebration for the Filipinos.
"As of this time, we have not monitored any serious or credible threat that would somehow hamper our peaceful celebration," Fajardo said on Friday, Dec. 22.
Fajardo said PNP chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. made inspections in terminals on Friday to personally witness the preparation made by cops tasked to secure primary transportation hubs and other places of convergence.
Despite this, the PNP is not leaving chances to fate as Fajardo said stricter security measures will be implemented to safeguard the public amid the holiday season.
"Hindi tayo nagkukumpyansa (We are not being complacent). We will continue to guard and validate all information that we are receiving to make sure our security measures are not compromised," she said.
Millions of Filipinos are expected to flock transportation terminals amid the long break for the celebration of Christmas and New Year's Day.
