Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said on Friday, Dec. 22 that he will continue to take a "special interest" in cases involving individuals who pose as staff members of his office for extortion purposes.
He made this statement after the Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 115 dismissed the estafa case that was filed against three individuals who allegedly claimed to be his staff members in order to collect money.
The court found insufficient basis to convict the three suspects, namely Dina Joson Castro, Ma. Luisa Barlan, and Helen Remolador.
Any form of scam designed to gain favors shouldn't be allowed. I'm confident that in the end, the perpetrators will be put to justice)," Gatchalian said.
He says that he continues to trust the courts.
We will continue to push our advocacy against scammers who continue to take advantage of our countrymen using different means of deceit)," he said.
