San Beda’s resolve and confidence that it can win its 23rd NCAA title never wavered even when the Red Lions were down in the best-of-three Finals.

That was what Yukien Andrada revealed, noting that the Red Lions simply stuck to their guns and rallied their way back to the throne.
“I was very confident talaga with my teammates and my coaches, alam namin na we can beat Mapua even though down kami sa Game One eh,” said Andrada who emerged as the catalyst to San Beda’s 76-66 Game 3 win over Mapua after dropping 20 points on five booming triples.
“Di talaga nawawala sa min yung confidence namin kahit ganun ano man mangyari lalaban kami hanggang sa mapanalo namin ‘yong Game Two and Game Three,” he added.
Much of the confidence was coming from the defensive end as Andrada also had his share in San Beda’s huge stand particularly in the final frame of the rubber match where it held Mapua to just nine.
“I think ‘yong defensive game plan nila coach, kasi very focus talaga ang mga coaches namin sa mga viewings namin,” Andrada stressed.
“I think that’s our biggest adjustment talaga on the Finals, we focus more on the viewing room and talaga tinakein lahat ‘yon namin ng mga players, syempre para sa game medyo may advantage narin kami,” he concluded.
