Rain showers may persist across parts of PH, says PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Dec. 20 said rain showers may persist across parts of the country due to a low pressure area (LPA), northeast monsoon, and the shear line.

In PAGASA's 4 a.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the LPA was estimated to be 185 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
PAGASA said the combined effects of the trough or extension of the LPA and the shear line may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Western Visayas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Bicol region, and Aurora.
The shear line is the area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA also said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan will continue to affect Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region where cloudy skies with rains will be experienced.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may also occur due to moderate to heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.
In the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be felt due to the localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
