Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez announced that the city government has set a P12.4 billion budget for 2024 to continue to provide more projects and programs for the city residents.
Olivarez said the approved budget is 10 percent higher than the P11.3-billion budget in 2023.
“The slight increase in the city budget reflects the continued commitment of the city government to fulfill our mission to improve the overall well-being and quality of life of our constituents,” Olivarez said.
"We shall continue to practice effective and efficient tax collection, prudent spending of the city budget, and transparency as we believe that these are the core elements of good governance.” he added.
The mayor said under the approved 2024 annual budget, P11.2 billion is allocated for the General Fund, which covers personal services like salaries and wages, maintenance and other operating expenditures, health and other basic social services, and disaster preparedness and economic programs, among others.
The P1.2 billion is earmarked for the Special Education Fund which will be utilized for the maintenance and operation of public schools, construction and repair of school buildings, and fund research, among others.
He also expressed the city government’s commitment to continue prioritizing programs that will meet the needs of the city’s constituents, particularly in education, health, environment, and assistance to the disadvantaged sectors.
The mayor added that among the priorities of the city are the construction of facilities such as a city coliseum, TESDA training and assessment center, an additional library, and an increase in financial assistance for senior citizens and college students, among others.
