Man slays wife, then himself in Vigan City

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – A man gunned down his wife before shooting himself inside their house in  Barangay San Pedro, this city, on Tuesday, December 19.

Police identified the victim as Esperanza Manicar Reyes, an Overseas Filipino Worker.

Investigation said Esperanza and husband Glemar Reyes, 26, had a heated argument at about 8:15 p.m.

At the height of the dispute, Glemar took a gun and shot his wife in the body several times, killing her on the spot.

Glen then shot himself on the head and died instantly.

Esperanza was taken to the Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital-Gabriela Silang General Hospital and Medical Center here where she declared dead.

Witnesses said the couple was quarreling due to jealousy.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
