LTO to open more plantilla positions for deserving contractual employees
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will open more plantilla positions in the next two years as part of the measures to address the problem of contractualization in the agency.
LTO chief Vigor D. Mendoza II said the move is also aimed at rewarding hard working and deserving personnel who have already spent years as contractual employees.
“As early as now, we are planning to open more plantilla positions, positions that would be available for deserving, competent and efficient people who want to serve in the Land Transportation Office,” said Mendoza.
“That is my vision, that is what I want to happen in the next two years,” he added.
A total of 63 employees were either hired or promoted at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City on Tuesday, Dec. 19 while a total of 45 employees also filled up the vacant plantilla positions in the regional offices.
Addressing contractualization is one of the promises of Mendoza whehn he assumed the top LTO post in July this year.
This, after a review of the employment records of the LTO revealed that thousands of LTO personnel who remain contractual despite years of service in the agency.
Following consultations made with Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Mdndoza said they were able to secure the commitment of the Department of Budget and Management for opening of more plantilla positions in the LTO to address contractualization.
"We want to ensure job security for all those who already spent years in the LTO but who remain contractual. We will address this," said Mendoza.
