DOTr extends LRT, MRT operating hours on Dec. 20-23

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has approved the extension of the operating hours of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) lines from Wednesday, Dec. 20, to Saturday, Dec. 23, amid the expected influx of passengers during the Holiday rush.

DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said the expanded trip hours were implemented for the convenience of the riding public during the Christmas season.

"Sa pagpunta ng mga tao sa mga party, reunion, at iba pang gathering, ating ipalasap ang Christmas spirit na nagbibigay ng kasiyahan sa pamamagitan ng komportable, ligtas, at maaasahang transportasyon sa mga tren (As people come to parties, reunions, and other gatherings, let us share the Christmas spirit by providing comfortable, safe, and efficient train transportation),” Bautista said.

In Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), the last trip at North Avenue Station will be extended to 10:30 p.m. from the original last trip schedule of 9:30 p.m., while the last trip from Taft Avenue will be at 11:05 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) from Dec. 20 to 22, the last trip from Baclaran Station will leave at 10:45 p.m., while the last train from Fernando Poe Jr. Station will leave at 11 p.m.

On Dec. 23, the last trip is scheduled to depart from Baclaran and Fernando Poe Jr. stations at 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., respectively.

Operations will then be shortened on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, where the last trip from Baclaran Station will leave at 8 p.m. while the last train from Fernando Poe Jr. Station will leave at 8:15 p.m.

On New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, the last train service from Baclaran Station will be at 7 p.m. and from Fernando Poe. Jr. Station at 7:15 p.m.

The first trip on these dates will still leave both ends of the train line at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and at 5:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

In Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) from Dec. 20 to 23, the last trip in Antipolo Station will be at 10 p.m., while the last trip from Recto Station will be at 10:30 p.m.

On Dec. 24, the last trip leaving Antipolo Station is at 8 p.m., while the last train from Recto Station will be at 8:30 p.m.

On Dec. 31, the last train from Antipolo Station will leave at 7 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. from Recto Station.
