CALAUAG, Quezon – Seven persons were injured after their van plunged into a ravine on the Maharlika Highway, Barangay Bagong Silang, here, on Wednesday morning, December 20.
Police identified the victims as Naprel Santiago, 32, driver, and passengers Jocelyn Ervas, 61; Marlyn Marangot, 61; Christopher Santiago, 34, and three minors.

The victims were onboard a Toyota Innova with license plates NAN-2440 traversing the ascending and curved portion of the Maharlika Highway at about 6:45 a.m. when Santiago accidentally turned the steering wheel to the deep and muddy right shoulder.
Santiago returned the vehicle on the road but hit the pavement and lost control on his steering wheel and fell into ravine on the left side of the highway.
Victims sustained injuries and were taken by rescuers to the Saint Peter General Hospital here.
