Thirty-four parents of children who were engaged in child labor received bigasan packages from the Caloocan City local government at Buena Park, Caloocan City on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The initiative is a joint effort of the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan hopes that the package will help in fulfilling the needs of the beneficiaries.
“Hiling ko po na makatuwang namin ang bawat magulang, maging lahat ng ating mga mamamayan upang tuluyang wakasan ang child labor sa Caloocan. Sana rin po’y lumago ang inyong bagong kabuhayan at makatulong ito upang maibigay ang pangangailangan ng inyong pamilya (I wish that every parent, as well as all our citizens, could partner with us to completely eradicate child labor in Caloocan. I also hope that your new livelihood will prosper and assist in providing your family's needs),” he said.
“Asahan po ang patuloy na pagsisikap ng ating pamahalaang lungsod, gayundin ang ating pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaang nasyonal upang mas mapalakas pa ang mga programang pangkabuhayan para sa mga Batang Kankaloo (Expect the continued efforts of our city government, along with our collaboration with national government agencies, to further strengthen livelihood programs for the 'Batang Kankaloo' (Caloocan children),” he added.
