Lady village chair shot dead in Ilocos Norte

MARCOS, Ilocos Norte – A barangay chairwoman was gunned down in Barangay Tabucbuc, this town, on Friday night, December 1.

Police Major Jonavale Maramag, town police chief, identified the victim as Helen Abrigado, chairwoman of Barangay Ferdinand here.

Investigation said the victim, a former Sangguniang Bayan member of this town, and other barangay officials were on their way home onboard a barangay multicab from a Christmas lantern parade when gunmen on board a motorcycle appeared and shot her.

The gunmen fled and she was taken by her companions to the Doña Josefa District Hospital here. She was transferred to the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City, this town, where she died. 

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
