Over P805,200 worth of marijuana declared as “replacement filter” was seized in the Port of Clark, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported.
In a statement, BOC said that the 488 grams of marijuana were contained in a parcel which undergone x-ray scanning and K9 sniffing.
Results showed dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be high-grade marijuana or kush.
Samples were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory test which confirmed the presence of marijuana.
A warrant of seizure and detention was issued against the subject shipment, the Customs said.
District Collector Erastus Sandino B. Austria commended the personnel for seizing the illegal drugs, especially during the holiday season.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio said it will remain firm in its campaign against illegal drugs smuggling.
The bureau pledges to prevent smuggling and protect the country’s borders and our citizens' well-being against the dangers of illegal drugs, he stated.
