AP.Bren opened its bid for its second world title in a rousing fashion, taking down Myanmar’s Burmese Ghouls, 2-0 in the M5 World Championships opener at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The MPL Philippines Season 12 champions played like a well-oiled machine in the series opener en route to the first point of the series before shrugging off some resistance from the Burmese rivals to notch the first win of the tournament.

AP.Bren was extra hot right off the gates scoring four early kills and never looked back from there, building a gold lead that went to as many as 8.4k. When the dust settled, AP.Bren already drew the first blood, 13-4, with Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel leading the charge with a perfect 3-0-6 KDA on Novaria.

Refusing to go down without a fight, Burmese Ghouls fought back and built an early 4-1 advantage in the opening minutes of Game 2.

While the visiting team managed to complete some pick offs, it couldn’t easily  pull away from the hometown bets, who managed to alleviate the impact of the kill deficit with superior map and resources control, thanks to the outer turrets of Burmese Ghouls already taken down inside the first 10 minutes of the contest.

The match then boiled down to a huge Lord dance at the 25th minute mark. Michael “Kyletzy” Sayson rose to the occasion and secured a double kill along with the objective for a 4-3 exchange in that skirmish.

The Filipinos then completed the siege taking down the Burmese Ghouls tower in 26 minutes and a tight 14-13 kill score.

Kyletzy showed the way with a 6-1-5 line on the jungle Nolan pick while Marco “Super Marco” Requitano added a 4-2-4 tally on Claude.
