Two QC cops sacked over circulating video of police response inside Ronaldo Valdez's home
Two Quezon City policemen were sacked from their posts over an uploaded video on social media of what appears to be a police response inside the room of veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez where his body was found lifeless on Sunday, Dec. 17.
Police Col. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said an investigation is still ongoing to identify the source of the video as well as all the persons who uploaded it on social media.
Fajardo said it was Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, director of Quezon City Police District (WCPD) who ordered the relief of the policeman who first responded into the room of Valdez and his station commander for command responsibility.
“This is a regrettable incident that was not supposed to spread on social media. If this was taken by our police responders for documentation purposes, there should have been no problem,” said Fajardo.
“But since this video found its way on social media, an investigation is now being conducted and those who would be found responsible would be liable for both administrative and criminal cases,” she added.
Fajardo said the QCPD immediately requested the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group to take down all the uploaded videos.
“As of today (Wednesday), according to General Maranan, their cyber patrolling and monitoring disclosed that there were no more videos in connection with it,” said Fajardo.
But Fajardo said they are also appealing to netizens not to upload or share the video, saying it is a sensitive matter.
“Let us respect the privacy of the victim and his family,” said Fajardo.
