Hidalgo said they must strictly adhere to ethical standards as many people are grappling with financial difficulties due to job losses and business setbacks.

He expressed empathy for the economic challenges faced by the community and urged the police to celebrate Christmas without resorting to soliciting gifts.

Hidalgo said solicitation is expressly prohibited under Presidential Decree 46 and lawmen caught doing this face severe administrative and criminal charges under provisions related to graft and corrupt practices.

He extended the prohibition to the acceptance of any form of token of gratitude and urged the people to avoid offering gifts to the police to demonstrate appreciation.

According to Hidalgo, his directive aligns with the goal of maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the PNP during the holiday season and beyond.
