Motorcycle driver dead in multi-vehicle collision in Bacoor

CAVITE – A motorcycle driver died in a chain collision involving multiple vehicles along the Molino-Zapote Road in Barangay San Nicolas II, Bacoor City, on Monday, Dec. 18.

Bacoor Component City Police Station (CCPS) identified the victim as Gerry Romey.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Roberto Lacasa told the Manila Bulletin that the accident involved a jeep, the victim’s motorcycle, a tricycle, and a Toyota Avanza.

The jeep, leading the convoy of vehicles, reportedly stopped to pick up a passenger. Behind it, the motorcycle and tricycle maintained their course. Trailing the group, the Avanza allegedly failed to halt in time, setting off a chain collision.

Due to the impact, the tricycle spun across the road to the southbound lane, hitting a van. The motorcycle, meanwhile, was caught between the jeep and the Avanza, leading to the death of the driver.

The drivers of the jeep, the tricycle, and the Avanza are now under the custody of Bacoor CCPS, awaiting inquest proceedings.

Lacasa said people deemed responsible by the fiscal could face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
