Suffice it to say that House Speaker Martin Romualdez has a lot of respect for presidential sister, Senator Imee Marcos.
Romualdez was asked in an interview Tuesday, Dec. 19 whether or not he and Senator Marcos were on good terms.
"Bati naman, pinsan ko naman yan (We're good, she's my cousin after all)," answered the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president.
"Ginagalang ko siya, hindi lang bilang isang senadora pero bilang isang mas matandang kamag-anak," Romualdez said.
(I respect her, not only as a senator but as an elder relative.)
Romualdez is 60, while Senator Marcos is 68. The latter is the elder sister of President Marcos.
While the Speaker is known to be very close with President Marcos, the same apparently cannot be said between Romualdez and Senator Marcos.
If her recent pronouncements are any indication, the lady lawmaker tends to side with Vice President Sara Duterte on different issues.
Asked if he and the senator are on speaking terms, Romualdez said he greeted her during the Christmas party at the United States (US) Embassy.
In the same interview, the House leader said that he still considered VP Duterte his friend.
