LPA trough, 'amihan', shear line to bring rains over parts of PH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Dec.19 said rains will be experienced in most parts of the country due to the trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA), northeast monsoon, and shear line.

In PAGASA's 4 p.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Rhea Torres said the LPA was located 265 kilometers west-southwest of Zamboanga City.
She said the trough or extension of the LPA and the shear line may affect Mindanao, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Aurora, Masbate, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
The shear line is the area where the cold northeasterly winds and the warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the LPA and shear line to stay vigilant due to possible flash floods and landslides caused by moderate to heavy rains.
In Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, cloudy skies with rains will be felt, while in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.
PAGASA also said flash floods or landslides may occur in Northern Luzon in times of moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides
