Chief Supt. Jerry Candido, director of the BFP-Western Visayas, led the inauguration, along with Councilor Psyche Marie “Pao” Sy, Barangay Alijis Chairman Deogracias "Donny" de la Vega, and Chief Insp. Stephen Jardeleza, city fire marshal.

The blessing of the facility in Barangay Alijis was officiated by Fr. Joel E. Roquez.

“We’re very lucky. With the help of the barangay, we were able to put this up,” Candido said in a media interview after the program where the Snorkel Magazine was launched and the mobile motorpool was opened.

The Alijis fire sub-station was activated four months after the BFP opened the Mandalagan fire sub-station here in August.

Candido noted that the BFP should be equipped with preparedness in responding to emergency situations as a place progresses.

He said this city has a good number of firetrucks, though it is not ideal, considering the population.

However, despite this, he said that he is thankful to the local government for providing assistance and support to the BFP for needed equipment.

The eight other fire sub-stations here are Rodriguez Fire Sub-Station in Barangay 16, Lopez Jaena Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Villamonte, Granada Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Granada, Libertad Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Taculing, Pahanocoy Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Pahanocoy, Sum-ag Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Sum-ag, Mansilingan Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Mansilingan, and Mandalagan Fire Sub-Station in Barangay Mandalagan.
