CEBU CITY – Classes on all levels and work in government offices in Bohol were suspended on Monday, December 18, due to tropical depression “Kabayan.”

Gov. Aris Aumentado ordered the suspension after storm signal No. 1 was hoisted over Bohol on Sunday, December 17.
“The suspension of classes and work in government offices is a preventive step for all Boholanons, primarily to ensure their safety and for them to be with their respective families in this weather disturbance,” Aumentado said in his memorandum to all department heads, school, and university officials.
Private establishments were given the discretion to declare suspension of work for their employees.
Aumentado also advised residents living in low-lying and coastal areas as well those in elevated and mountainous areas to take extra precaution against the threat of flooding and rain-induced landslides.
The governor also directed town mayors to conduct preemptive evacuation in areas that are prone to flooding and landslides.
They were also directed to continuously monitor and coordinate closely with their disaster risk and reduction management councils.
