During her time at the Miss Universe pageant, Catriona Gray won the hearts of the people through her words, charm, wit, and, most especially, her style. In the past, the former titleholder shared how she used her daily ‘fits and the ensembles he wore on the stage, which highlighted the artistry and creativity of Filipinos, as an extension of her storytelling. This time, as she celebrates her fifth anniversary of winning the coveted crown, the former beauty beauty looks back on her journey with a photoshoot inspired by the evening gowns she donned on the pageant.
First is a nod to her Ibong Adarna-inspired gown for the preliminary competition. In the photos shot by fashion photographer Bj Pascual, Catriona puts on a Dia Ali garb embellished with orange feathers, mirroring the design of the gown designed by fashion designer Mak Tumang. Apart from the mythical bird, the gown she wore on the Miss Universe stage was also a nod to the beauty of the Mikimoto crown.
Her next set of images plays around Mak's Lava gown for Catriona’s look at the coronation night. Inspired by the Mayon Volcano, an ode to her mother’s hometown, the gown iss reimagined for the photoshoot with pieces crafted by fashion designer Job Dacon.
Catriona becomes a true lava goddess in the last set of photos with the use of AI. To make it happen, her team worked with Creatives Only creative director Vince Uy for the AI rendering.
“Here’s to creating and bringing to life the visions we hold close to hearts, hoping that one day they'll capture the attention of the Universe,” Catriona posted. “I am so incredibly grateful. Thank you everyone for celebrating five years since bringing home the crown of Miss Universe with me.”
