Legarda filed House Resolution No. 1513 urging the House Committee on Transportation to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation to prevent another tragic incident.
He wants to “ensure the safety and security of the riding public and prevent loss of lives and limb.”
A Ceres bus from Iloilo City on its way to the municipality of Culasi in Antique plunged into a ravine after its brakes malfunctioned and the driver lost control in Barangay Igbucagay on December 5.
Legarda noted that the part of the road where the accident happened is a “killer curve” where other similar incidents have occurred.
In 2019, a Ceres bus also fell off the cliff. Three people died and six others injured.
The resolution echoed the appeal of Antique Gov. Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao to the national government, particularly the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), to find solutions to prevent another tragic accident in the area.
