CEBU CITY – More than 1,000 passengers were stranded after several sea trips in Central Visayas were canceled due to tropical depression “Kabayan” on Monday, December 18.
The Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas (PCG-7) reported that 1,295 passengers were stranded in various ports after the voyages of 34 passenger vessels were canceled.

Vessels coming from Cebu bound for Surigao, Ormoc, and Bohol were not allowed to sail as early as Sunday, December 17.
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport cancelled six flights on Monday.
Canceled flights include the Cebu-Surigao, Cebu-Siargao, and Cebu-Ozamiz routes.
At least 300 stranded passengers took temporary shelter at the Cebu City Sports Center here.
As rains started pouring on Monday, two persons were injured when a tree toppled and fell on a taxi in Barangay Capitol site here.
The injured brought to a private hospital were the passengers of a taxi driven by Arnold Guinto, 50.
