The Manila Police District (MPD) has assured the safety of Manileños during the observance of the 10-day "Simbang Gabi."
"Handa na ang pambansang pulisya partikular na ang MPD para sa pagpapanatili ng seguridad pangayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan lalo na sa pagsisimula ng Simbang Gabi mamayang madaling araw hanggang sa 24 ng Disyembre (The national police, especially the MPD, are ready to maintain security during the Christmas season, especially with the start of Simbang Gabi until December 24)," MPD said on Sunday, Dec. 17.
With its theme "Ligtas Paskuhan 2023," Police Assistance Desks (PADs) were installed beside churches and in other crowded areas in the city.
It also guaranteed the proper deployment of the police force to ensure security this holiday season.
MPD Chief Lt. Col. Thomas Ibay said that every personnel of Manila's Finest upholds disciplined leadership.
Ibay instructed all the city's 14 MPD station commanders to personally monitor and guide their respective personnel.
It can be recalled that officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) went to Quiapo Church recently to inspect the situation and police presence in the area.
Apart from the surveillance in the churches, MPD also set up PADs at every bus station and seaport, as well as at the large public markets in Manila such as Blumentritt, Quiapo, and Divisoria.
"Inaasahang ang mas pinalakas na police visibility sa matataong lugar ngayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan (Increased police visibility is expected in populated areas this Christmas season," MPD added.
