2 dead, 5 hurt as firecrackers explode inside parked truck in Marikina
Two men died and five others were hurt after firecrackers allegedly exploded and started a fire in a parked delivery truck at a terminal in Marikina City on Sunday morning, Dec. 17.

The truck was parked at the BFCT terminal in Barangay Calumpang, where a passenger bus parked next to it also caught fire.
Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, Eastern Police District (EPD) director, said that the fatalities were identified as the truck driver and the truck porter.
In a radio interview, Asueta said that after an investigation, firecrackers had been seen inside the truck that caused an explosion and fire.
The fire started at around 9:14 a.m. and was declared under fire control at 9:41 a.m. by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze around 9:44 a.m.
Authorities have yet to determine the estimated amount of damage.
