The Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Dec. 16.

In PAGASA's 4 p.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the LPA was seen 925 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao.
Dominguez said PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility for the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
"The tropical cyclone will be called "Kabayan" when formed," said Dominguez.
Meanwhile, the two weather systems that prevail in the country remain the northeast monsoon or "amihan" and the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA said Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with light rains while Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the impact of amihan.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be expected caused by the easterlies.
The public was warned of threats from possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Moreover, PAGASA said there will be a surge of northeast monsoon on Sunday, Dec. 17 in Luzon including Metro Manila where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be expected.
