BI gives Christmas gifts to poor, marginalized families

The spirit of Christmas is truly alive at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as its personnel conducted a week-long outreach program to help the poor and marginalized sectors of society feel the holiday cheer.

The activities started last Dec. 11 when BI personnel conducted a gift-giving session with SheWORKS (Women of Reliability, Knowledge and Skills) at the Fairview Christian Fellowship, which serves as a non-formal training program for women who survived human trafficking.

Last Dec. 12, the BI conducted its second gift-giving activity with the children of their office's janitors and security guards.

Not forgetting their community, the BI then went around the barangays in Intramuros last Wednesday and Thursday. The families living in Barangays 654 to 658 were the recipients of their outreach program.

On Friday, the BI held its third gift-giving activity and spread the cheer to BI service providers from the Common Gavel Club and the Philippine Eagles Club.

The fourth activity was for the children of BI employees, and they even conducted a simultaneous Christmas party celebration for the kids.

The final activity took place at the BI’s main office lobby, where BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco revealed that the modernization thrust of the BI will remain a top priority for the agency in 2024.

“Like a family, our shared efforts have led to remarkable advancements. I'm immensely thankful for your hard work and unity, paving the way for progress. Let's continue working together, united, towards our goals in the coming year," Tansingco told the BI personnel.

He hopes the BI would be able to transfer to its new building along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City in 2024.
