The Department of the Interior and Local Government awarded the Pasay city government with Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on Dec. 13 held at the Manila Hotel.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano personally received the award and thanked the DILG for recognizing the city government's commitment to efficient leadership and outstanding public service.

Rubiano said Pasay City was one of the 11 cities in Metro Manila that received the prestigious award under the Republic Act No. 11292 or “The Seal of Good Local Government Act of 2019.”

She explained that the The Seal of Good Local Governance is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program that encourages local government units (LGUs) to continuously progress and improve their performance in various governance areas.

The mayor said that in order to receive the SGLG award, local government units must pass the assessment criteria in various governance areas, namely financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity.

Rubiano said it also includes health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.
