South Korea inspects greenhouse project in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY – South Korea recently inspected a greenhouse project at the Department of Agriculture Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Research Center (WESVIARC) here.

Department of Agriculture (DA)-6 Regional Director Dennis Arpia said First Secretary Lee Jeoung Bin of the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines led the inspection of the Smart Greenhouse and Capacity Building Project.

“The project aims to incorporate advanced technology and capacity-building initiatives to enhance sustainable practices in food, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in the Philippines,” said Arpia.

The 3,000-square meter Korean-style climate-proof and mechanized facility site consists of 10 greenhouses, six of which are dedicated to mushroom cultivation and four for tomatoes and paprika.

The initiative showcases Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and organic crop production technologies, contributing to the nation’s food safety goals.

The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MAFRA), is implemented by Hankyong National University.
