TOKYO, Japan—President Marcos arrived here on Friday night to participate in the Japan-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Commemorative Summit.

The plane carrying Marcos and the entire Philippine delegation landed at the Haneda Tokyo International Airport at 7:13 p.m.(Tokyo time).
He will be participating in various sessions in the summit, hold bilateral meetings with Japanese and business leaders, and attend gatherings set by the Japanese government during his four-day stay in the city.
His first order of business is to meet Prime Minister Kishida Fumio along with other leaders from the ASEAN member states.
According to Marcos, this year’s last ASEAN-related summit presents an opportunity to affirm the Philippines’ position on current international issues and advance its interests.
He said it is also an opportunity to welcome the conferment of Comprehensive Partner Status to Japan, ASEAN’s trusted and reliable partner in peace, economic development, and community-building for the past 50 years.
The President is also looking to highlight that the ASEAN-Japan relationship has "evolved and progressed over the past five decades," particularly in shared commitments towards peace and security, trade and investment, food security, climate action, energy security, supply chain resilience, infrastructure development, and now, connectivity.
He said he will reassure ASEAN Member States and Japan that the Philippines will continue to shepherd ASEAN initiatives and projects with Japan "not only to co-create a region of economic prosperity, but also an inclusive society that is ready for the future."
During his four-day stay here, he will attend several sessions of the ASEAN Commemorative Summit such as the review of ASEAN-Japan relations; a working lunch dubbed heart-to-heart partners across generations; and partners for co-creation of economy and society of the future.
The Chief Executive will also participate in the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) leaders' meeting before meeting Japan Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.
Marcos will return to Manila on the night of Dec. 18.
