ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo provincial government has earned its sixth Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award.

Defensor reiterated that SGLG is not a goal, but a standard for all local government units (LGUs) as it has to uphold transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
This year’s award is another manifestation of the Defensor administration’s Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient Province of Iloilo or MoRProGRes Iloilo, a whole-of-province approach to the development and progress of the province.
The Iloilo provincial government has made its mark in the SGLG prior to the current administration.
Under the administration of Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., Iloilo was the first province in the country to win the SGLG for four consecutive years – 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Meanwhile, the component city of Passi also won its sixth SGLG. Passi City Vice Mayor Elyzer Chavez accepted the award on behalf of Mayor Stephen Palmares.
