
General Romeo Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Friday, Dec. 15, as part of the 88th founding anniversary celebration of the AFP.
In his speech, Brawner recognized the legacy and heroism of gallant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect and defend the country.
"Today’s wreath-laying ceremony is not just a symbolic gesture. It is a solemn pledge to remember and honor those who have laid down their lives for the cost of freedom," he said.
"May our nation continue to flourish under the watchful eyes of those who stand ready to protect it," the AFP chief added.
The wreath-laying ceremony was aimed at commemorating all the military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
It was held simultaneously at different camps nationwide, and was one of the activities lined up for the celebration of the AFP anniversary which will culminate on Dec. 21.
Aside from Brawner, those who attended the ceremony at LNMB included the families of the deceased soldiers, other ranking military officers, and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) cadets among others.
