4 dead in Bacoor fire; 87 families rendered homeless


CAVITE – Four individuals, three of them children, died in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Barangay Talaba II, Bacoor City, early morning on Friday, Dec. 15.

Barangay Secretary Blesilda Abareles told the Manila Bulletin that the casualties were children - aged six, seven, and 10, and a 20-year-old. 

Three were injured from the fire, including a man who suffered third-degree burns and a man and a woman who sustained fourth-degree burns. They were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

One person remained unaccounted for.

As per the barangay’s initial assessment, 87 families or 330 individuals were left homeless by the blaze.

They are now taking temporary shelter at Talaba Elementary School.

Talaba II Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Dindo Labaja, meanwhile, said they are collecting donations to help provide essentials for the fire victims, on top of the provisions from the city government.

Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the fire was reported at 2:40 a.m. and reached the first alarm at 3:05 a.m.

The blaze was declared under control at 4:23 a.m. and put out by 5:21 a.m.
