QCPD enhances surveillance, criminal investigation capabilities

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday, Dec. 13, announced that it collaborated with the United Kingdom (UK) Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Unit to enhance its surveillance and criminal investigation capabilities in the city.
The initiative aims to enhance the utilization of CCTV systems for improved surveillance and criminal investigations at QCPD, Camp Karingal, Quezon City.
QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan, underscored the significance of the partnership, highlighting the crucial role of modern technology, especially in law enforcement in the current era.
"In an era where technology plays an essential role in law enforcement, leveraging advanced CCTV systems is paramount," Maranan said.
"This dialogue with the UK CCTV Unit opens doors for enhancing our surveillance and investigative capabilities to ensure the safety and well-being of the Quezon City community," he added.
During the discussion, the said unit proposed a training course encompassing key lessons for the city police personnel.
These include identifying opportunities and gaps, crafting a CCTV retrieval strategy, practicing and resourcing, exhibiting retrieval, viewing techniques and logging, statements, and presentation at court.
The lessons were crafted to empower law enforcement personnel, equipping them with essential skills to proficiently utilize CCTV technology in various aspects of their duties.
