PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC), the energy arm of Yuchengco-led PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC), completed the site development works for its 27-megawatt direct current (MWdc) Dagohoy Solar Power Project in Dagohoy, Bohol.

The project is currently the first large utility-scale solar power project under development in the province.

Once becomes operational, the P1.2 billion solar facility will provide for over 15,000 households in Bohol, which have been dependent on imported power supply from Leyte and Cebu.

“All the major site development works, prior to the installation of the solar panels and major electrical facilities, have been completed by our contractor, Media Construction and Development Corp,” PGEC’s site engineer Frederick B. Pizana told reporters during a site visit.

“We were able to proceed as scheduled and worked fast because of the strong support from our partner government agencies, host communities, and the local government unit of Dagohoy headed by Mayor Hermie Relampagos,” he added.

Further, Pizana said that the firm is currently applying for the land conversion but the government assured them they can still operate while the process of conversion is ongoing.

PGEC is a joint-venture between PERC and Kyuden International Corp., the overseas investment arm of Kyushu Electric Power Company.

Further, Pizana said that the firm is currently applying for the land conversion but the government assured them they can still operate while the process of conversion is ongoing.

“By the second week of January 2024, our major contractors – Global Electric for the solar farm construction and Philcantech Enterprises for the electrical and grid connection – should be ready to start the power plant construction,” Maria Victoria M. Olivar, PGEC VP for Commercial Operations said.

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this progress should allow PGEC to meet our commitment to the DOE and to our off-taker S.N.Aboitiz Power (SNAP),” she added.

For Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos, he said that the town will remain committed to sustaining an atmosphere that is welcoming to and supportive of investors such as PGEC.

“As I have shared with our constituents, this is a game-changer that will help our municipality transition from a fourth-class to a third or even second-class municipality and will improve the living conditions of our people,” he said.

“We are very thankful to PGEC for investing in our municipality. I even told PGEC that they can expand their project here and we will be more happy to welcome other investors in Dagohoy,” he added.
