MVP Kevin Quiambao stays with De La Salle for another season

The 22-year-old forward has decided to stay in De La Salle for another year to "make it B2B" (back-to-back), he announced on a social media post on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

“Playing for DLSU has been one of the greatest blessings in my life.

“After constantly consulting my family and friends, we’re excited to run it back and try to make it B2B!,” the post read.

Quiambao steered the Taft-based squad to its first title in seven years in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in their historic finals duel last week.

After a splendid sophomore year in the league, Quiambao announced before the Lasallian community about wanting to play for ‘one more year’ but hinted on potential overseas offers shortly after, which he then refused to give a detailed account of.

The 6-foot-5 Quiambao became the first local league MVP in eight years and clinched all available individual awards to go along with his first collegiate title.

At the conclusion of the recent season, Quiambao revealed that he was going to Japan on December 15 but only for a family vacation.

Many Filipino cagers, both from the collegiate and professional ranks, have moved to neighboring Japan B. League and Korean Basketball League.
