A Makabayan solon is prodding the House of Representatives to transition from investigating television network SMNI's supposed franchise violations to probing the alleged misdeeds of one of its key personalities, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
"The pile of allegations against him has been ongoing for years. Dapat agad ding imbestigahan ito ng Kongreso lalo't mukhang nagtatago na si Quiboloy," Assistant Minority Leader Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas said.
(Congress must immediately investigate this especially since Quiboloy appears to be in hiding.)
SMNI has been headlines no thanks to the ongoing investigation on its various possible franchise violations. There is also a call from the House to have the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) cancel its operations.
With these developments, Brosas urged the House to hear House Resolution (HR) No.644, which seeks to investigate the cases of sex trafficking, rape, and physical abuse of women and children filed against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Quiboloy.
Quiboloy is widely known to be the owner of controversial network SMNI.
Brosas and her fellow Makabayan solons filed HR No.644 on Dec. 13, 2022 in light of the "wanted" posters released by the United States (US) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against Quiboloy.

"Political prisoners and peace advocates who have been imprisoned on false charges continue to suffer in jails, while Quiboloy, who has already faced US sanctions, remains at liberty. Malaya pa nga ito na magkalat ng fake news at mangredtag kasama ang NTF-ELCAC sa mga palabas ng SMNI," Brosas said.
(It is even free to spread fake news and red tag along with NTF-ELCAC on the programs of JTI.)
"We stand with the victims of Quiboloy and call on the government to pursue an investigation into his operations in the Philippines and provide support and protection for his victims," she concluded.
